Rob Lemkin and Sambath Thet: Lessons Learned from Enemies of the People

In the documentary “Enemies of the People,” the men and women of the Khmer Rouge who perpetrated the massacres—from the foot-soldiers who slit throats to the party’s ideological leader, Nuon Chea (a.k.a. Brother Number Two)—break a 30-year silence to give testimony never before heard or seen. The film is Sambath’s journey to discover not how his family was killed, but why they died. In doing so, he hears and understands for the first time the real story of his country’s tragedy.

In a video presentation prepared especially for TEDxPhnomPenh, Co-Producer and Co-Director Rob Lemkin explains some of the lessons learned from making the film, and how he sees it as important for Cambodia to move toward peace and reconciliation. Sambath will be at the event to introduce the video presentation, and share his thoughts on building the future of Cambodia.
