Ou Virak: “Why We Need to Rethink Human Rights Activism”

Ou Virak is a well known Cambodian human rights activist and intellectual, the President of the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR), founder of the Alliance for Freedom of Expression in Cambodia (AFEC), and winner of the Reebok Human Rights Award for his civil society campaign for freedom of expression and for the release of human rights advocates imprisoned for criticizing the Cambodian government. His work largely focuses on protecting freedom of expression, information and assembly in Cambodia.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
