Andy Hawkings: “Collective Songwriting – Musicians Without Borders”

Andy is an educator and composer, as well as a singer and classically trained guitarist. He has developed his own method for playing the guitar and he is an experienced music teacher. He uses voice, percussion, and tuned instruments to develop the inner ear, enabling students to hear the sounds they want to make before doing so. Andy currently teaches music at iCAN British International School and is the music director at the recently-opened NGO, Music Arts School. He feels fortunate that his work and play are intertwined and interchangeable.

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
