BIOGRAPHY   Chantevy holds a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Currently she serves as a Programme Analyst on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) at the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). She has nearly 10 years of experience working on gender equality and women’s empowerment and ending Violence against Women (EVAW). Her professional experience includes supporting the development of the programme strategy, programme implementation and project management on EVAW and WPS. She also has a signification knowledge and experience with the Cambodia National Action Plans and policies and international standards related to women’s rights and EVAW. More importantly she has a good experience in partnership building and key stakeholders engagement including coordination work with government, UN agencies, local and international non-governmental organizations, and development partners.

TALK TITLE   Technology-facilitated gender based violence

TALK SUMMARY   Online or Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence (TF GBV) is an emerging issue in Cambodia and often there is a lack of report due the fear of being blamed or judged. In addition, the authorities are not adequately trained and sufficiently equipped with technology on how to respond the issue. TF GBV are abusive behaviors that are carried out using a computer and mobile technology and some common types are online harassment, revenge porn, and cyber stalking. TF GBV is experienced in a range of context, including dating and intimate partners relationships, most commonly perpetrated by men against women. It is also perpetrated against young women who regularly engage in public online spaces.

Keys take away from this talk is to raise awareness among audiences on public attitudinal changes toward victims-blaming and create a friendly and safe spaces for women to come forward and report so affirmative and effective actions can be done in a timely manner.
